The beginning of summer
June evenings are hard to beat here.
The days are long, meals move outside, and there’s no particular reason to hurry anything. It’s the time of year when an afternoon by the pool can quite easily turn into cocktails in the garden, which turn into dinner beneath the walnut tree, which turns into another bottle of wine being opened because nobody needs to drive anywhere.
On Saturday 12 June, we’ll welcome ten guests to La Cour de Husson for our early-summer Seasonal Table.
Arrive in the afternoon, unpack, and change into your swimming things. We’ll meet again later for cocktails and canapés before sitting down together for a completely new plant-based menu inspired by the beginning of summer in the Charente.
Dinner will be accompanied by local wines and, when the evening eventually comes to an end, your room is waiting for you.
Then we’ll see you again over brunch in the morning.
Your stay
An afternoon at La Cour de Husson
Check in from 2 pm and make yourself at home.
Swim, stretch out on a lounger, find a hammock beneath the trees, or grab a bat for a game of ping pong. There isn’t an itinerary to follow. The afternoon is just there to be enjoyed.
Apéro
At 7 pm, we’ll gather in the garden for a seasonal cocktail and homemade canapés.
June gives us plenty of evening light, so there’s no hurry to get to the table. Have a drink, meet the other guests, and enjoy that lovely bit of the day when the heat starts to disappear.
Dinner beneath the walnut tree
At about 8 pm, we’ll sit down together for dinner.
Weather permitting, our June Seasonal Table will take place outside beneath the old walnut tree.
The menu will be entirely plant-based and completely different from the tables that came before it, shaped by the produce arriving as spring gives way to summer.
We’ll serve a selection of local wines alongside dinner and keep the evening deliberately relaxed. 10 people, 1 table.
Stay the night
Eventually we’ll call it a night. Fortunately, your comfy bed is only a few steps away.
You’ll stay in one of the five bedrooms across our two renovated gîtes at La Cour de Husson.
Sunday brunch
The next morning, we’ll make brunch.
Expect plenty of coffee alongside a mixture of homemade sweet and savoury dishes, pastries, fruit and whatever else we’ve decided the morning needs. Think warm freshly baked pastries fresh out of the oven, homemade granola, fresh fruit, and warming mushrooms on toast or spiced masala beans.
There’s no rush to disappear immediately afterwards. Enjoy the last bit of your stay before heading home.
Check-out is at 11.30 am.

The June menu
Coming closer to the date.
June sits at one of our favourite points in the growing year. Spring produce hasn’t entirely disappeared, but summer is beginning to arrive.
We’ll wait to see what’s happening locally before writing the final menu. There may be courgettes, peas and broad beans, fresh herbs, new potatoes, cherries, and the first of the summer fruit, or the markets may send us in a completely different direction. That’s part of the fun!
Rather than deciding the dishes months ahead, we’ll create the menu closer to the 12 of June, around the produce we’re most excited to cook with.
Everything will be plant-based and made by us here at La Cour de Husson.
Just ten places
There are five guest bedrooms at La Cour de Husson, so The Seasonal Table is limited to ten people.
Everyone eats together around one table.
Some guests arrive with friends, some as couples, and some may be meeting everyone else for the first time.
The small number is what makes the evening so special.

You’ll stay in one of five bedrooms across our two renovated gîtes at La Cour de Husson. All the rooms are spacious and the kitchen is fully stocked with tea and coffee if you fancy an early morning pick me up.

How do I get there?
Our address is: La Cour de Husson, 5 Route de Husson, 16140 Charmé, France
Travel to and from the event is not included, and is the responsibility of the guest.
If you are travelling from further afield, you can fly into the following airports:
Poitiers – 50 minute drive
Limoges – 1 hour 20 minute drive
La Rochelle – 1 hour 45 minute drive
Bordeaux – 2 hours drive
If you are travelling by train, our local station is Luxé and large main station is Angoulême (there are direct trains to Paris & Bordeaux from here).
Cancellations & transfers
Due to the nature of The Seasonal Table, all bookings are final and non-refundable.
If you’re no longer able to join us, you’re welcome to transfer your booking to someone else. Just let us know their name and details at least 24 hours before the event, or ask them to give us your name when they arrive.
Any arrangements regarding payment between the original booker and the person taking their place are the responsibility of the original purchaser.
In the unlikely event that we need to postpone an evening due to circumstances beyond our control, your booking will automatically be transferred to the new date.
Is everything vegan?
Yes. Everything we serve during The Seasonal Table is plant-based and vegan, including dinner, canapés, brunch, and drinks.
Do I need to be vegan?
No.
Some of our guests are vegan, some are vegetarian, and some eat everything.
The Seasonal Table is about food rather than labels. If you like interesting food and the idea of a long evening around a shared table, you’ll fit in just fine.
Why don't you publish the menu when bookings open?
Because May hasn’t happened yet.
The menu will be built around what’s genuinely in season and looking its best locally as we approach the event.
We’ll publish it here closer to the date.
Can you accommodate allergies?
Tell us when you book and we’ll accommodate allergies and dietary requirements wherever we reasonably can.
If your requirements are particularly complex, contact us before booking and we’ll talk them through with you.
Are drinks included?
Yes. Your welcome cocktail plus a selection of wines and other drinks during dinner are included in the price.
How are the rooms allocated?
Rooms are available on a two-person sharing basis, so each booking is for two guests sharing a room. If you’re coming on your own, please get in touch, and we’ll be happy to discuss the options with you.
Can I book dinner without staying overnight?
No. The Seasonal Table is offered as a dining-and-stay experience, so your room at La Cour de Husson forms part of the booking.
The upside is that everyone can enjoy the evening (and the wine) without having to worry about driving home afterwards.
Can I come on my own?
Our rooms and pricing are primarily based on two people sharing.
If you’d like to come alone, please get in touch before booking and we’ll let you know what options are available.
Who will be joining us?
The Seasonal Table is for people who enjoy good food, good conversation, and meeting new people.
You’ll be sharing the table with a small group of like-minded guests who are curious, sociable, and have a healthy appetite for delicious food and a good evening.
Some may come as friends, some as couples, and some may arrive not knowing anyone else at the table. That’s part of the fun.
It’s the kind of evening where, by the end of it, nobody feels like a stranger.
